Kevin Whelan

This week John & Amy talk with Kevin Whelan. Kevin is a singer, guitarist & founding member of The Wrens. Kevin shares his experience of The Wrens as a band that “never made it” & the dynamic that guides this lifelong project that may or may not be broken up. John, Amy & Kevin discuss the mythical status of The Wrens & the reason & culture surrounding the bands last record Meadowlands.  We also hear about the influence of Kevin’s kids on his new record Aeon Station (Sub Pop Records) & his plans for live performance in the near future. Our episode opens with John's story of a breakup in the 1990’s, the cliches involved & how it left him stranded at a roadside diner. Next, Amy elaborates on relationship chemistry, toxicity & the importance of gratitude & honoring oneself when a connection is broken.
